So, why Amazon? I mean, there are so many other online retailers out there – there’s eBay, Etsy, TradeMe – you name it. But, why Amazon?
First, let me quickly fill you in on my background. I’m an Architect graduate, I’ve worked in Retail & Sales environments. The most competitive Sales role I’ve been involved in was at Fuji Xerox & at HRV Ventilation. I understood at a very early stage that the most efficient way of earning income is buying/selling. Sales is a process that’s never going to stop. Trading has always existed and always will, regardless of the economy.
It became clear to me that Sales is where it’s at.
My passion has always been in design & arts, as it allowed me to tap into my creative side. However, I discovered along the way that I wasn’t such a bad Salesperson, and I had the Social/Communication skills to do well in this industry. Probably better than Architecture, if I’m honest.
Now, back to Amazon… Why Amazon?
For me, 3 reasons;
- I get to combine all of my passions in one area,
- Amazon is a market leader, & their fulfilment service second to none
- It ticks all my boxes when it comes to time & financial freedom potential
BOOM!
When I first heard of Amazon, & the business opportunity. It just made sense. It was clear. You buy for cheap, sell for more. And, build an asset (a brand) that you can be proud of in the process.
Designing products was not new to me. Making products look attractive was not new to me. Selling products was not new to me. I took Graphics in High School, where we practised designing products. I went to an Architecture school, where I learnt how to really make shit look cool. And then of course, I worked in Retail & Sales for over 8 years. This Amazon opportunity was just a complete package.
Why Amazon, for you?
I don’t know. You’ll have to figure that out yourself. But here are couple of reasons to get you thinking:
- You want to take your products (&/or brands) to a global marketplace. &/or
- You want that complete time & financial freedom that you’ve always wanted.
All I can tell you is, that you don’t need to be a Graphics & Architect graduate. Or, have sold a single item to succeed on Amazon. Personally, I believe if you can learn how to sell on Amazon, you have so much power in your hands.
Power to be self-sufficient. Power to expand.
